Gource

Gource is a project to visualise software development through an animated hierarchical tree where each dot represents a file coloured according to file type.:

It’s visually very exciting, though there is probably room for development in terms of the capacity to analyse work at a relatively high degree of granularity.

A video was recently made by Mojang to show the development of Minecraft.  Watch Jeb and Notch fly around zapping updates into the swirling branches of code:

Lovely how the developers fly around the source code trees, adding branches and zapping things. They’re like happy bees.
